Grappler's Quest: Frankie's fight

We entered Frankie and Brandon into their first NO STRIKE grappling tournament: Grappler's Quest. Frankie fought tonight (Friday), and Brandon will fight tomorrow (Saturday). Neither of them have submission expeience, only wrestling, so this was nerve racking for me.Anticipation for the fight. How does Frankie think he will do?...he's not sure! Frankie getting encouragement from his biggest fans.

Frankie had such a large bracket that they only let them do single elimination, and only ONE 4-minute round. He was beating his opponent 2-0. He had gotten takedown points, but the boy ended up putting him in a triangle and choked him, causing him to tap out. We were a little disappointed, because we felt Frankie could have beat this kid. However, with no experience, concerning the mentality of how to approach his strategy, he gave up his hold by being too aggressive. Had he held back and just rode him out, he probably would have won, but he just didn't know to do it. WE ARE SO PROUD OF HIM, THOUGH!!! He really went after it, and we had a lot of fun being back in the competitive arena again.
Brandon will be fighting tomorrow. Hopefully, he learned something from Frankie's mistake tonight, and will be able to be a little more successful. We'll see.

We walked around the UFC Expo after the fight. It was part of the tournament. Frank tried to lift a 175 pound dumbell. His grip wasn't quite strong enough. He said it wasn't the weight, it was the width of the bar that made the grip difficult.
This man was able to do it, though! One of the few in the world. He is a man of a man! He dwarfs my hubby, who normally dwarfs everyone else! We got a chance to take pictures with a few professional fighters. Another one...
(There was a lot there, but we didn't feel like standing in lines. We just grabbed a couple as they became available, while walking.) So...when we got to Urijah Fabre, the boys just stood behind him instead of waiting. Inventiveness...yes, I like that! He broke both of his hands in his last fight...Ouch! Who is this guy? We don't know. He just looked crazy. We got to step inside an Octagon fighting ring. Interestingly, the floor feels SO neat! It has a bouncy, cushiony feel to it! Frankie and Brandon liked the ring and took a shot at each other. Brandon in his sparring stance. BTW, he bought these clothes while there. There were so many things being given away. We racked up with all sorts of stuff. At this particular booth, girls were giving away shirts, BUT you had to TAKE OFF your shirt to get one.
The boys didn't mind doing that. LOL! The boys even got fooled by a magician. Surprisingly, it even impressed Frankie, which is saying a lot, because he knows quite a few tricks himself.
The best part of the night, though, was watching Brandon get side kicked by Bruce! LOL!
What a fun, filled day!

What the heck? He was doing so well. From this end it looked like Frankie could have taken him.

Good luck Brandon!
