Brandon gave a talk in church yesterday on Love at Home. I just had to write that he did a great job! He didn't read anything and he eloquently gave his message with enthusiasm and no fear. He prepared it all by himself and this was quite a task considering the bishop only gave him a day's notice. I just had to write that I am very proud of him.
I will add, however, that he talked about the chaos of our family and how it drives the spirit down at times when there is bickering and the such. However, for those of you who know us know that he was speaking the truth. One lady came up to me and told me she would have been embarrased (not being mean, just informative). However, I responded, "Are you kidding me?! There's nothing embarrasing about that. I have a house full of boys. I'm realistic. There's going to be fighting. We just strive to keep it manageable. No family is perfect. I am definitely NOT embarrased!" Honestly, I'm very glad that Brandon can recognize when the Spirit is present and when it is not. I'm glad he can see that contention does drive the Spirit away. That recognition will only help him in life.
Furthermore, can I just say, "There IS beauty all around when there's love at home." And, our home is very beautiful for the most part. Yes, go wolfepack!!!

I thought he did a wonderful job! I can totally relate and our boys are only 3 and 1. I wish we lived in a Utopia, but I am also glad that we have the bad so that we can appreciate the good.
Hey, I can't read your entire post because your playlist is in the way!
I don't know everything that you said, but I do know that he did do a good job on his talk. I was very proud of him too! I also wanted to tell you that last testimony meeting when he got up as well as your hubby I was touched by the Spirit. Their testimonies were so sincere I got all choked up and no, it was not just hormones!
Brandon is getting so grown up, he used to be so shy.....When you remember, can you post a picture of him with his "new smile?" Would really appreciate it! Love to all,
Evelyn (grandma)
Oh that lady needs to get over herself! Everyone had chaos, there's just 2 of us here and there's still chaos! I agree with you, at least Brandon knows the difference between the 2, good job!!
I love you Marina! I love your responses to every situation you're in. I love what you said to the lady. I probably would've said "oh?" and then started to be embarrased, but you're so sure of yourself and proud of your family and I love it!!!
You should have told the lady, "Are you kidding?! My boys are doing way better than the chaos I had growing up! They aren't chasing each other around with butcher knives and peeing on each other." Thanks - Ethen & Rocco! LOL
I mean come on. That's the good thing about big families, there's always excitement and yes, chaos. We definitely had the good, bad, and the ugly. But I would never trade it for anything in the world. It's through that chaos we were able to grow and be prepared to cope in the world. Why do people think we're so great? (I know this sounds egotistical, but it's true - we are great) It's because we have had to learn to get along with so many personalities and go with the flow. Other's see how laid back we are and how we're so down to earth and realistic. It's refreshing to others and they feel more comfortable around us, because they know we love them for who they are and we're not here to judge anyone. No one has to pretend around us and we always make them look better because no one is as off their rocker as we are!
Ok, I'm done with my rant. Love y'all and can't wait to come out there and see everyone!
Hi Marina! I just saw your blog on Stacey's Blog and I thought I would drop in and say Hi! I loved Brandon's talk on Sunday and I am glad you didn't feel embarrased. You shouldn't have, I was able to relate to what he was saying. Growing up we all fought with each other all the time! :) He did great!
Also your pictures are awesome! I didn't know your hair was ever that long! You are a beautiful woman inside and out! Have a great day!
Sorry it took me a while to comment. I was in San Antonio. I wish I could of heard his talk. I can't believe Brandon even accepted the talk considering it was a days notice. I always get nervous about talks even when they give me a months notice, much less a DAY! Way to go Brandon.
And for Mary's comment, people might have thought she was joking about the butcher knife and pee, but that was real, true, life right there. CraZy brothers
okay okay, give me a few days to stew over some random things..this may not play out well for me! :)I can't believe Frankie is graduating(ed) We miss your wonderful cooking!
Ok Mary, let's be honest...have you forgotten when our family gets together?! Go with the flow and laid back doesn't ring a bell!
It taught you to stick up for yourself and to have an opinion.
Angel,
I didn't say we were laid back with EACH OTHER. We fought all the time (that's the point - we're crazy.) However, if someone ever tried to fight with one of our family members, then the claws came out. We may have argued, but we know how to stand up for each other when it counts.
With OTHER people we are pretty forgiving & easy going.
Besides games don't count because we're super competitive!
I am so excited that Brandon did so well! He is a great young man! Oh, by the way...James is 22 and he served his mission in New Zealand! YAY - I adore him! haha I miss you! Im coming home on August 1st! I am going to come visit you! LOVE YOU LOVE YOU LOVE YOU
