Dental Hygiene Projects

29 October 2010Our college had a Fall Fun Fest that our Dental Hygiene program participated in. We used it as a source for fundraising (selling teeth whitening kits), screening for new patients, and teaching children how to brush. We have around 60 students (Jr-in pink/grey & Sr-in blue/black) and these are the people I worked with on my shift.
Sommer, Me, and Ruth sporting our nice clinic gear.
Far and I working the crowd. LOL!!! We had so much fun, because we were dancing to the music that the booth next to us was playing. Okay, well I was. ;) We spoke to everyone walking by (while others sat back and practiced instrumentation). It was a great experience for talking to people you don't know. I think the kids enjoyed us. Hey, if you can't have fun...why work? Hahaha!

18 November 2010
Our lab class was broken up into groups and we were responsible for coming up with a game to teach the rest of our lab partners certain dental concepts. My little group of three (myself, Ashly, and Donnalyn) came up with a fun and interactive way to teach Tooth Development and Eruption. Since are instruction included losing teeth, we decided to act as Tooth fairies and give away money as prizes to our game winners (chocolate gold coins to participants and some real moolah to the top dogs)!!!! These are our winners here (Viona and Raef). Our game rocked!!!
Good job in studying!!!! Isn't it nice to get paid for hard work! ;)

Awh, I know you can't wait to be sporting the blue/grey (Sr.)...btw very cute idea for the reward. I think you might be trying to relive your young days since your kids are all grown and you can't be the tooth fairy anymore. Sorry Marina, you can't rewind time...but you can pass some of that dough this way ;~
