Frankie had his orientation into the ROTC at UNLV and had to do his physical fitness test right away. He scored a 93, but hopes by next semester that he will bump his score to a 100. He was a little concerned about coming into the program as a sophomore, because he won't have much time to prove his leadership skills to the commander in time to participate in a Field Training exercise held this coming summer. The commander only chooses about 1/2 of the sudents in the ROTC to attend, and out of those half that attend, only about half of those are chosen to be officers in the Air Force. They take into consideration grades, physical fitness, and leadership abilities. It's really quite competitive!
Thankfully and surprisingly, after the first week of school, Frankie was chosen to be the sophomore class leader. WooHoo!!! I think that his Eagle Scout award and his public speaking abilities landed him that responsibility. He is very grateful that he has been put into a position to work hand in hand with the commander...so hopefully he will shine and prove his worthiness of a military officer. Heavenly Father is definitely opening doors and blessing his efforts!!!
On a side note...Michelle hates his new buzz cut. She really misses his old hair style. LOL!!! I'm sure she will get used to it, though.
