My husband was playing basketball three months ago, and had a serious injury to his knee. His ACL completely snapped, and his MCL and meniscus were damaged as well. He put off having surgery until his work (driving limos) slowed down. He finally went under the knife Monday, 21 Dec...the day after his birthday.
We were at the hospital for 10 hours. The surgery only lasted a couple of hours, but it took my husband awhile in recovery. He would only wake up long enough to throw up. The anesthesia didn't settle well with him at all. It was really rough. Even when he got in the car, he continued to puke, and all through the night. 
The next day he took his bandages off, because he couldn't feel the ice packs.
He was really pitiful, and in a lot of pain! 
However, my husband couldn't stand me doing Christmas shopping without him, so he went with me to Wal-Mart on Wednesday, and hopped on one of their motor scooters. Hahahahaha!!! He was so funny!!!

FOR REAL??? The VERY next Day?? Not me! Stay in the bed.
I can't believe he went out the next day! Both times I would have been in way to much pain so I would have been too doped up to help. I'm amazed but glad everything went well and hope it continues to go well.
That didn't take long! LoL I'll bet he looks like Opa!
