Song I'm Named After--Marina

ATTENTION:
LIZ ANN and ANGEL

For your viewing pleasure, I posted the artist and song I was named after (Marina by Rocco Granata). Notice the artist is Rocco (my Dad's name). Cool, huh? Anyway, I'm assuming because of my Italian heritage and the artist's name, and my mother's love of the song, I inherited the name: Marina.

Mi sono innamorato di Marina
una ragazza mora ma carina
ma lei non vuol saperne del mio amore
cosa faro' per conquistarle il cuor.
Un giorno l'ho incontrata sola sola,
il cuore mi batteva mille all'ora.
Quando le dissi che la volevo amare
mi diede un bacio e l'amor sboccio'

...Marina, Marina, Marina
Ti voglio al piu' presto sposar
Marina, Marina, Marina
Ti voglio al piu' presto sposar

O mia bella mora
no non mi lasciare
non mi devi rovinare
oh, no, no, no, no, no...

My ROUGH translation:

I am in love with Marina
a brunette girl, but pretty
But she does not want to know of my love
What I will do in order to conquer her heart.
One day we met alone alone,
My heart beat a thousand times per hour.
When I told her I wanted her love
I gave a kiss and my love blossoms.

Marina, Marina, Marina
I want even more to marry you soon.
Marina, Marina, Marina
I want even more to marry you soon.

O my beautiful brunette
No don't leave me
You must not ruin me.
Oh, no, no, no, no.

Oooh, very romantic, and so very sweet. Did you hear it all the time while you were growing up? My dad always played Earth, Wind & Fire's song September on my birthday (which of course, is in September).
By the way, I haven't seen Mamma Mia the musical, but I really enjoyed the movie.

Oh Marina, how beautiful! I always wondered where you got your name...now I know :)! I love that your mom loves that song. I wouldn't have guessed that. Thanks for sharing!

I wish I was named after romantic song like that! When people would ask if I was named for or after something I would just start singing my song! Maybe you should start doing that, although the majority of the people probably wouldn't understand what you were saying and think you were a little crazy, so maybe not! :)

That was a rockin' accordian! She must've really loved that song, b/c that was famous way before you were born. I don't even want to know how long it took to translate that...I'll have to ask Frankie.

haha, that is so cute! Good thing you turned out to be a beautiful bruneete, that'd stink if you were an ugly redhead.
