Uncle Joe & Chris' Visit to Vegas/ Stratosphere

My uncle Joe and his son, Chris (my cousin), popped into Vegas this week. Chris moved to CA after he graduated from the Citadel and I haven't seen him since then (maybe 15 years). He has been delving into acting and is establishing a name for himself. He's done commercials and some smaller films. Actually, he has a movie that is out right now on the SCI-FI channel. It is called Heatstroke. If you missed it Saturday night, it will be rebroadcast Thursday, June 5th. (Check out his hyperlink to the side and see what else he has done...one notable role is that he played the double for Christian Bale in the Prestige. Pretty cool!)

I was soooo excited to hear that he was in town. I rushed down town Saturday night after work to meet up with him. We ended up having a great night on the town. We first searched for this million dollar burger place that was highly recommended by one of his friends. However, we couldn't find it. (Just know that finding places in Vegas is extremely hard. Every casino/hotel is like a mini city and even the people who work within a hotel don't necessarily know where their establishments are.) So, we ended up eating at the House of Blues inside Mandalay Bay. We ate soooo much! We overstuffed ourselves. We had four of the appetizers. One of which was some "stupid good" gondzola cheese fries (inside joke). (Joe paid. Thanks, Joe!)Full rack of ribs, green beans, and mashed sweet potatoes--Yum!This is us waiting on valet outside of Caesar's Palace. After about seven hours of hanging out and scurrying through the city, it was time to call it an evening. (We also had four other people with us who were friends of theirs, not pictured.) Chris actually had to cut his trip to Vegas short because he got a phone call from his agent saying he had to get back and turn in an audition tape ASAP for another job that he was trying to land. (Good luck!)

Frankie really liked getting to know Chris. They hit it off well. He took them golfing on Nellis AFB Friday and they were able to talk a lot of trash to each other. (They ended up tieing.) Also, he was able to chauffer them around Thursday night and hook them up with some fun things to do. I tried really hard to convince them to go on top of the Stratosphere (180 story building that has rides that hang you over the side of the building and suspend you over the city), but they weren't having that. Actually, Chris wanted to go up top and look, but we never got around to it.

STRATOSPHERE

By the way, while I'm talking about the Stratosphere. I might as well post some pics and videos of when my boys and Alex, my brother, went there back in October. (Super scary! I wouldn't even get near the glass of the window to look out, much less get outside of the building. They were CRAZY!)

This is what the top of the Stratosphere looks like, but remember, it is 180 stories!!!

(The date on these pics are wrong. My camera wasn't programmed. It was actually Oct 07.)
This is Gabriel praying before he got on the X Scream. Don't forget to check out the videos below. Just scroll down.

Looks like y'all had fun!! I would be way to scared to do that. I don't know if I could have watched my children do that either.

I watched Chris's movie and it was pretty interesting. Jim & I were kind of laughing at the special effects, but he did a great job. Nice little freaky twist at the end. And like Chris says on his website...He ends up being the hero.

It's just so weird seeing him on TV and then also to see him do a mini "love" sceen (kiss.) It's like, "Oh, man. That's my cousin!" LOL

Did you get to see the movie?

Oh man, I wish I could have been there with y'all. Well, not to ride the stratosphere, but to be able to see everybody again.

Pamelia, I was extremely scared watching my children! My heart was about to beat out of my chest! My body was shaky with a nervous twitch to it. Whew! It was nerve racking! And, actually the scariest of all the rides, I didn't get to film. I couldn't go where they were (which was further up). All I could do was hear the screams. Also, I didn't get the whole ride of the Insanity video either. That ride actually tilts you so that you are spinning with your whole body laying parallel with the ground. I'm telling you, I was completely nerve racked for my kids. And there was NO way I was getting out there with them. CRAZY!!!!

Mary, I haven't watched yet. I have it on DVR. I'll probably take the time tomorrow to view it. Little Frankie and Wesley said the graphics were insanely funny too. You gotta start somewhere, right?

Lizzy, totally wish y'all could have been here too. When are y'all gonna make the trip?

Well, it all depends on what Anthony's assignment will be. Will find out in 2 weeks. But I still have to have this baby first. So at least not until September :-(
